Morgan has just one request for Santa this year, "A Microphone with a stander!"  She had to go see Santa with Mimi and Pops a couple of weeks ago and told him again at Breakfast with Santa this past weekend at Josh's school.  After that breakfast she said that she is sure Santa will get her what she REALLY wants!

Josh had a little more trouble getting it across to Santa what he wanted, he asked for a Didj.  Santa asked, "You want a ditch?..."  They got it straightened out though!

Have you ever had a conversation with your kids and realized their version of what you thought they knew doesn't quite match what you think you taught them?.....  Yeah, that's how confused I was the other day when Josh and I were on our way home from school.

We stopped at Target to do a little Christmas shopping, and Josh wanted to pick his gift for Morgan.  He got Morgan's gift picked out, and then asked that we, "look around a little so I can give you some good ideas for me."  We looked for a few minutes, then headed home.

As we were driving, Josh asked, "Mom,  I've been pretty good this year so Santa should bring me something, right?"  I told him he was a great guy and Santa was surely going to recognize that this year.  Then I decided to take this chance to make the most of a teaching opportunity.  It's in the mom code book, right?

I said, "You know, Santa just looks for us to try our best to be good but we can't be good enough to make up for the wrong things we do.  Isn't it cool Jesus was born on Christmas and died on the cross so we can be cleaned up completely and go to live with Him forever!  All we have to do is ask him to clean our sins away and live in our hearts forever!"  I was feeling pretty proud I had made the most of a teaching opportunity.....Then it was revealed to me how my teaching had fallen apart somewhere along the way....

Josh responded enthusiastically, "Yeah!  That's why Jesus dies on the cross every Easter and comes back to life three days later!"

I paused for a minute to process what I heard and said, "No...Jesus just died and rose again on the first Easter, we just celebrate every year."

Josh got a very puzzled expression on his face and confirmed with me, "You mean He doesn't die and come back to life three days later every year?"

"No," I said, "He only had to do that one time.  It's kind of like when we celebrate your birthday, you aren't born every year on June 25.  We just celebrate every year."

Josh said, "Oh, OK."  But the tone of voice and the expression on his face told me we will probably have this conversation again....It all said, "Sure Mom, whatever you think but I know the truth!"

Times are truly sweet in the Muyres home!  We have much to be Thankful for on this Thanksgiving Sunday and one of the things we cherish are all of you friends and family!  We just got home from a week in the Smokey Mtns. with Mimi and Pops.  It was a great time of chilaxin' and just hanging out together.  Morgan was our cruise director...it is her job to keep track of everyone and make sure they are doing something she approves of.  I think we may expect too much of our little princess!  It's time to get these young ones into bed and Josh ready for back to school.  After a week off, we'll see how that goes!  Goodnight all and big hugs to everyone!
